The Oregon Public Utilities District needed a dual-tunnel (heating – cooling) air handling unit for their new office complex in Johns Prairie. They also wanted to incorporate solar assisted heating to improve operating efficiency.
Working with a manufacturer of solar wall components, Alliance Air Products engineers integrated the solar panels into the air handling unit exterior construction to provide a unified appearance. The end result was a single air-handling package incorporating dual tunnel construction with return fan and economizer plus integral solar wall for winter heating.
